Vera Kiss Fit Help
How to Measure
A better fit starts with better measurements. Use this guide to measure your bust, underbust, waist, hips, torso length, and garment length before choosing your Vera Kiss size.
Start with Your Body Measurements
Your body measurements help you understand your size range. Product-specific measurements help you understand how one Vera Kiss style may fit compared with another.
For the best result, use both: your body measurements and the garment measurements shown on each product page.
What You Need
Soft Measuring Tape
Use a flexible measuring tape. Do not use a metal ruler or stiff tape for body measurements.
Light Clothing or Underwear
Measure over close-fitting underwear or light clothing. Bulky clothing can make your measurements inaccurate.
Mirror or Helper
A mirror or helper can help keep the tape level, especially for bust, underbust, hips, and torso length.
Your Product Page
Always compare your measurements with the product-specific size guide, garment measurements, and fit notes.
Before You Start
- Stand naturally with your shoulders relaxed.
- Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor unless the instruction says otherwise.
- Keep the tape comfortably snug, not tight. It should touch your body without digging in.
- Breathe normally. Do not hold your breath or pull your stomach in.
- Measure twice if you are unsure, then use the most consistent result.
- For lingerie, small measurement differences can matter. Write down the exact number instead of rounding too much.
Which Measurements Do I Need?
You do not need every measurement for every product. Start with the product type you want to buy, then measure the areas that matter most for that style.
| Product Type | Must Measure | Also Helpful | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bras & Bralettes | Bust, Underbust | Usual bra size, support preference | Underbust helps with band fit. Bust and underbust together help estimate cup volume or bralette size. |
| Lingerie Sets | Bust, Underbust, Waist, Hips | Panty coverage preference, strap adjustability | Sets need both top and bottom fit. The top depends on bust and underbust; the bottom depends on waist and hips. |
| Babydolls & Chemises | Bust, Underbust, Hips | Length preference, bust room preference | Bust and underbust affect the top fit. Hips and length matter because the skirt should float comfortably over the body. |
| Bodysuits & Teddies | Bust, Waist, Hips, Torso Length | Underbust, tummy / abdomen, long torso fit history | One-piece styles can feel too short even when bust, waist, and hips look correct. Torso length is important. |
| Panties & Bottoms | Waist, Hips | Tummy / abdomen, rise preference, coverage preference | Waist stretch, hip room, rise, leg opening, and coverage affect comfort. |
| Robes & Sleepwear | Bust, Waist, Hips | Shoulder width, sleeve length, robe length, belt length | Robes and sleepwear need enough room through the bust, hips, sleeves, and overall length. |
Tip: If the product page gives style-specific measurement advice, follow the product page first. Vera Kiss products may fit differently by fabric, stretch, support, coverage, and garment structure.
Measure by Product Type
Use these category guides to understand which measurements matter most for each lingerie style.
Bras & Bralettes
Focus on bust and underbust. For bra-sized styles, underbust helps with band fit, while bust helps with cup volume.
Lingerie Sets
Sets need both top and bottom fit. Measure bust and underbust for the top, then waist and hips for the bottom.
Babydolls & Chemises
Focus on bust room, underbust fit, hip ease, and where the hem falls. A babydoll should feel secure at the top and soft through the lower body.
Bodysuits & Teddies
For one-piece styles, torso length is especially important. A bodysuit can feel too short even if bust, waist, and hips look correct.
Panties & Bottoms
Focus on waist comfort, hip room, rise, and coverage. For high-waist styles, tummy comfort may also matter.
Body Measurements vs. Garment Measurements
These two measurement types are different. Understanding the difference can help you choose more confidently and avoid relying on size labels alone.
| Measurement Type | What It Means | How to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Body Measurements | Your body measurements, such as bust, underbust, waist, hips, and torso length. | Use them to compare with Recommended Body Measurements on the product page. |
| Garment Measurements | Measurements of the actual product, usually measured by hand while laid flat. | Compare them with a similar item you already own for a more realistic fit reference. |
A garment measurement is not the same as the body size it fits. Fabric stretch, ease, support, and garment construction all affect how the style feels when worn.
How to Measure Each Area
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your bust. Keep the tape level across your back and comfortably snug around the front.
Underbust
Measure directly under your bust, around your ribcage. Keep the tape level and snug without digging in.
Waist
Measure around your natural waist, usually the narrowest part of your torso. Do not pull the tape too tight.
Hips
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom. Keep the tape level all the way around.
Torso Length
For bodysuits and teddies, measure from the top of your shoulder down the front of your body to the lower closure point.
Garment Length
For babydolls, chemises, robes, and sleepwear, compare the garment length with where you want the hem to fall.
Quick Measurement Checklist
Write your measurements down before comparing with Vera Kiss product pages.
| Measurement | Your Number | Most Useful For |
|---|---|---|
| Bust | _____ in / _____ cm | Bras, bralettes, babydolls, chemises, bodysuits, sets |
| Underbust | _____ in / _____ cm | Bras, bralettes, soft cup styles, babydolls with underbust seam |
| Waist | _____ in / _____ cm | Bodysuits, teddies, panties, high-waist styles, fitted pieces |
| Hips | _____ in / _____ cm | Panties, bodysuits, teddies, babydolls, chemises, sleepwear |
| Torso Length | _____ in / _____ cm | Bodysuits, teddies, one-piece lingerie |
How to Compare with Garment Measurements
Garment measurements are usually taken while the product is laid flat. They help you compare the item with a similar piece you already own.
- Choose a similar item that fits you well, such as a comfortable bralette, babydoll, robe, panty, or bodysuit.
- Lay it flat on a smooth surface without pulling it to its maximum stretch.
- Measure the same areas shown on the Vera Kiss product page, such as bust width, underbust width, waist width, hip width, length, or torso.
- Compare your item with the Vera Kiss garment measurements.
- Read the product Fit Notes to understand stretch, support, coverage, and whether the style is forgiving, body-hugging, or structured.
Do not compare your body measurement directly to a flat garment width without considering stretch and ease. A flat garment width is not the same as the body size it fits.
If You Are Between Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, use the product's Fit Notes, stretch level, support level, and coverage level as your final guide.
Choose the Larger Size If
- You prefer more bust room.
- You want more tummy or hip ease.
- You want extra length.
- The fabric has low stretch.
- You prefer a more relaxed fit.
Choose Your Usual Size If
- The product has medium or high stretch.
- You prefer a closer, body-hugging fit.
- The Fit Notes say the style is forgiving.
- Your key measurements fall comfortably inside the recommended range.
For bra-sized styles, use band and cup sizing. Sister sizes may help if the cup volume feels right but the band feels too tight or too loose.
Common Measuring Mistakes
| Mistake | Why It Matters | Better Method |
|---|---|---|
| Pulling the tape too tight | Can make the size look smaller than your real comfort range. | Keep the tape comfortably snug without digging in. |
| Measuring over bulky clothing | Can add extra inches and lead to a loose fit. | Measure over close-fitting underwear or light clothing. |
| Letting the tape slope | Can change bust, underbust, waist, and hip measurements. | Use a mirror or helper to keep the tape level. |
| Only using your usual size | Different lingerie categories can fit differently even in the same size. | Use your measurements and the product-specific fit information together. |
| Ignoring torso length for one-piece styles | Bodysuits and teddies can feel too short even if bust, waist, and hips seem correct. | Check torso length and Fit Notes before ordering one-piece styles. |
Measurement FAQ
Should I measure in inches or centimeters?
Vera Kiss primarily serves US customers, so inches are usually easiest for shopping. If possible, write down both inches and centimeters for better comparison with garment measurements.
Should I wear a bra while measuring bust?
Wear light, close-fitting underwear or a comfortable bra that does not add heavy padding or change your natural shape too much. The goal is to measure the shape you want the lingerie to fit.
What if my bust and hip suggest different sizes?
Choose based on the product type. For babydolls and bralettes, bust and underbust may matter more. For panties, hips and waist matter more. For bodysuits and teddies, bust, waist, hips, and torso length all matter.
What if I do not have a measuring tape?
A soft measuring tape is best. If you do not have one, you can use a non-stretch string to wrap around your body, mark the length, and then measure the string with a ruler. This is less precise, so measure carefully.
Can Vera Kiss help me choose a size?
Yes. Email us at service@verakiss.com with the product link, your usual size, and your bust, underbust, waist, hip, and torso measurements if available.
