Sister Sizes
Sister sizes can help you adjust the band and cup on bra-sized styles while keeping a similar cup volume. They are useful when the cup feels right but the band feels too tight or too loose.
What Are Sister Sizes?
A sister size is a nearby bra size with a different band size and a different cup letter, but a similar cup volume. Sister sizing is used for bras and bra-sized styles that are sold by band and cup, such as 38DD, 40DDD/F, or 42G.
Sister sizes are not the same as soft-size lingerie sizes such as 1X, 2X, or 3X. For babydolls, chemises, robes, panties, soft bralettes, bodysuits, and lingerie sets sold in plus sizes, please check the product-specific Size Guide and Fit Notes instead.
The Simple Rule
Sister sizing follows a simple band-and-cup relationship:
If You Go Up in Band
Go down one cup letter to keep a similar cup volume.
Example: 40DD/E ? 42D
If You Go Down in Band
Go up one cup letter to keep a similar cup volume.
Example: 40DD/E ? 38DDD/F
This means that the number and the cup letter work together. A D cup is not the same volume in every band size. For example, 38D and 44D do not have the same cup volume because the band size is different.

When Should You Try a Sister Size?

Try going up one band size and down one cup letter.
Example: 40DD/E ? 42D
The Cups Feel Good, But the Band Feels Loose
Try going down one band size and up one cup letter.
Example: 40DD/E ? 38DDD/F
Your Usual Size Is Out of Stock
A sister size may be an option if the product style, support level, and return policy work for you.
When Sister Sizing May Not Solve the Fit
Sister sizing is helpful, but it is not a universal fix. If the cup is wrinkling, spilling, cutting in, gaping, or not supporting the bust comfortably, you may need a different cup volume, a different bra style, or a style with different coverage and support.

Sister Sizes vs. Plus Size Lingerie Sizes
Vera Kiss may carry different sizing systems depending on the product type. Bra-sized products use band and cup. Many lingerie styles use plus-size body ranges such as 1X, 2X, and 3X. These systems should not be mixed.

How to Measure for Bra-Sized Styles
For bra-sized styles, start with your underbust and bust measurements. Use a soft measuring tape and measure over light clothing or close-fitting underwear.
- Underbust: measure directly under your bust, around your ribcage. This helps estimate your band size.
- Bust: measure around the fullest part of your bust. This helps estimate your cup volume when compared with your band.
- Fit preference: let us know if you prefer a firmer band, a softer feel, fuller coverage, or more adjustability.
